Define Member's Responsibilities: Teams work best when they know in as clear terms as possible what responsibilities they are expected to perform. Each member has to be properly told about their significance within the team, and what are the supposed to perform while being a part of this team. 2. Seek Commitment to team Objectives: It is necessary to ask for commitment from constituting team members. Without commitment, work won't go anywhere. Ensure that team members have the knowledge, skill and capability of dealing with the issues for which the team was constituted. Define the Boundaries of the Team: Ensure that the team understands the amount of freedom it has and the limits that are placed on this. If they know how much freedom is with them, they would be in a much better position to define their efforts in the pursuits of specific objectives. Similarly, awareness of any type of limitation would help them with the pursuit of designated objectives. 5. Provide Proper Channels for Communication: Proper channels for communication are an absolute must for the team to successfully attain its objective. Feedback should be requested as frequently as possible. Similarly, performance feedback should also be provided regularly to the team members. Also ensure that important business information regularly reaches the teams making use of such information. 6. Have a Clear Define Policy of Reward and Retribution: In order to keep the morale of the team high, have some kind of a reward scheme in place. This would help break the monotony of the job and help them feel motivated. Similarly have some king of a retribution system for failures. Take care that the 'punishment' is not too harsh.
