Building The Team Spirit
One might agree when it is
said that what makes all the members of a group want the team
to succeed is called their team spirit. Even though, there is
nothing much the same as being a part of a team, many group
members might actually lack the team spirit. However, for any
team to succeed, it is essential that every one of its members
works together with others in harmony. Every team member must
harness his or her individual abilities into one single effort
that is focused towards one goal.
Believe it or not, a team
effort is always more effective and efficient than a single
person. Almost anything can be achieved if all the members in a
team work together towards one specific aim. In fact, many
studies have concluded that the complete ability of a team to
perform is actually a sum of all the abilities of all the
individual members in a group. Howsoever, these can be
influenced and even be decreased because of the inefficiencies
within the group.
Sadly enough, this is quite
true for almost all "teams". This is because in reality most
teams are actually just an assortment of people who suffer from
individual selfishness and absence of motivation. In fact, such
groups can not be called teams at all. It is only the teams
that are empowered by team spirit that have members with the
willingness to act as a part of the group rather than
individually.
Individuals who have the
required team spirit have a much higher level of motivation.
They can therefore achieve better success than they could while
acting alone on a task. This means that team spirit enables a
team of people achieve even the most seemingly impossible
tasks.
Building team spirit is the
only way for any organization to clarify a common goal for an
employee group. It also helps an organization eliminate
negativity and spread positivity even amongst the worst
employees. Team spirit inspires workers and enables them to
perform well in the assignments given to them by their group
leaders, in a competent manner.
Therefore, the higher the morale of a group the more the
employees would want to work harder towards the common
goal.
